Being able to get off the beaten track is an integral part of the New Zealand travel experience, and is something shared by many New Zealanders and overseas visitors through Freedom Camping.  However, Freedom Camping in the wrong places or without appropriate management has negative environmental, social and economic impacts in some regions.  Wherever you travel in yourcampervan or motorhome,  help us keep New Zealand clean and green.

How do you find out where you are able to Freedom Camp?

Check with i-SITEs, DOC Visitor Centres or Holiday Parks to find out where you are
permitted to freedom camp, and about other local camping information.
